Hydroxypropyl Acrylate Solid Base Catalyst Method
In 2014, the synthesis of Hydroxypropyl Acrylate 2-Hydroxypropyl Acrylate Hpa using solid base as a catalyst was reported for the first time at home and abroad. Zirconium dioxide is a transition metal oxide with both acid-base properties, oxidizing properties, and reducing properties. Taking advantage of the unique characteristics and properties of zirconium dioxide, Fu Mengle et al. from Changzhou University prepared a K–Fe/ZrO₂ solid base catalyst by impregnation. The preparation process involves activating the zirconium dioxide carrier in a muffle furnace for 3 hours, adding anhydrous ethanol containing potassium fluoride and ferric nitrate to the activated zirconium dioxide carrier and stirring for 3 hours, evaporating ethanol and water, drying in vacuum, and then calcining in a muffle furnace to obtain the K–Fe/ZrO₂ solid base catalyst. This catalyst has high catalytic activity and good stability for the reaction of acrylic acid and propylene oxide, with a reaction temperature of 100°C and a yield of 77.8%. Although solid base catalysts overcome the disadvantages of traditional catalysts, such as complex post-treatment processes and environmental pollution, during the reaction, some pores of the solid base catalyst are blocked by large product molecules, thereby reducing the catalytic active sites and leading to a too low yield of 2-Hydroxypropyl Acrylate Hpa Hydroxypropyl Acrylate . The application of solid base catalysts in the synthesis of Hydroxypropyl Acrylate 2-Hydroxypropyl Acrylate Hpa needs further research.
